F1 Monaco GP: Hamilton plays down 'justice' win after hard start

Posted June 13, 2016

He was told to move out of Hamilton's way by his Mercedes team and eventually slipped to sixth in the order.

A furious Daniel Ricciardo has slammed his Red Bull team after a shambolic pit stop cost him victory at the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday.

His team later issued a full apology and pledged to launch an investigation.

Ricciardo has gone 32 races without a win, dating back to his third breakthrough victory in 2014. I was called into the box.

"It was nearly a damaged auto, and this is why we chose to make that call [for Rosberg to let Hamilton by]". I got called. They should have been ready. "It hurts. I don't have anything else to say to be honest".

Golden State's Draymond Green in another playoff dustup
In hindsight, Cleveland's late-game struggles mimicked Oklahoma City's in Game 6 of the West finals to the point of eeriness. Outside of Russell Westbrook, he's one of the guys that attacks the paint every single play.

"(Rosberg) let his teammate past - his main rival for the title - had a scrappy pit stop and a vehicle that didn't have any pace", Wolff said. "I'm sure he's not too happy but he should proud of the way he drove". It's very frustrating as I had the pace to be on the podium today, but this is racing and it's just the way it often is in Monaco.

This remark sparked media speculation of a rift, and perhaps even a hint of an uncertain future for the Australian at Red Bull.

Hamilton then switched to super-softs on lap 31 and Ricciardo would easily have chased him down when he pitted for a harder tyre on the next lap but, to Ricciardo's fury, his team hadn't got them out and ready.

Verstappen made his Formula One debut with Red Bull-owned Toro Rosso previous year as the youngest ever driver.

After the gaffe, Red Bull tried to gee Ricciardo up but he snapped back on race radio "nothing you could say would make that any better".

Yankees to sign Ike Davis
With Mark Teixeira out indefinitely, the Yankees signed Ike Davis on Sunday to start against right-handed pitchers. Rob Refsynder is now the starting first baseman, a position he only began to play within the last month.

Hamilton celebrates his victory.

Ricciardo pulled out a 13.1-second lead in seven laps before Rosberg let Hamilton through and the Briton then pulled out 10 seconds in five laps once he was into second place.

"These last couple of weeks have strengthened him and strengthened our relationship", Wolff said.

"But, unfortunately, a communication error between the pit-wall upstairs and the tyre management [downstairs] let us down". The incident was subsequently investigated by the stewards who took no further action. "I prayed for a day like this and it came through, so I feel truly blessed". A team strategy error denied him victory a year ago while he missed out on a possible pole in 2014 when Rosberg made an error that forced him to slow.

Police shoot man amid domestic disturbance at Dallas airport
The police chief defended the tactics used by the officer as "quite appropriate" and said the surveillance footage told the story. The incident at the airport started after the pair pulled up to the curb outside the baggage claim doors around noon.
