Swedes mock US Fox News for interviewing fake expert on TV show

The guest in question was Nils Bildt, who was referred to as the "Swedish Defence and National Security Adviser".

"We do not know who he is", it told the Swedish daily.

The controversy over Sweden erupted when Trump made a reference to "what's happening last night in Sweden" during an early February rally in Florida.

But according to court records and Swedish officials, the man, identified as Nils Bildt, has a criminal record and no ties to Sweden's security establishment.

The Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter reported on Friday that neither the Swedish armed forces nor the Foreign Ministry knew of Bildt, The Washington Post reported.

GOP congressman says special prosecutor needed to investigate Russian Federation election meddling
Darrell Issa of California says it would be improper for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to lead the investigation. It's because we had the better candidate with the better message. "Now, we have to work with them".

Näslund, who had been forced to listen to Bildt dismiss her fact-based argument out of hand, pointed out on Twitter that the Swedish immigrant to the United States who claimed that immigrants to Sweden are violent, was reportedly arrested in Virginia for committing a violent crime in 2014. "We don't want to feel uncomfortable, so we expose ourselves to select information so we feel good about ourselves", says Clare Wadel, research director at First Draft, a nonprofit that advocates for truth in the digital sphere. "You can not have a debate - an open and honest debate - in Sweden about immigration, because if you don't agree with the liberal common agenda, then you are viewed as an outsider or not even taken seriously".

Commenting on the identification issue, Bildt said that the title was chosen by a Fox News editor.

Bildt told reporters he hasn't misrepresented himself. The supposed expert's father, Sven Tolling, is "well known in Swedish equestrian circles", but he changes his name to Bildt nine years after emigrating from Sweden.

Bildt is also a USA immigrant, and was arrested in June 2014 for assault and battery against a law enforcement office, obstruction of justice and public inebriation after threatening an official.

Carl Bildt denied being related to this Nils Bildt, according to the Washington Post.

Bill O'Reilly will address the issue on his show on Monday.

Fox News does take Nils Bildt seriously.

The executive producer of "The O'Reilly Factor" said Bildt was recommended by people the show's booker consulted while making numerous inquiries about potential guests. He told Dagens Nyheter on Friday that he was a us -based independent analyst, and Fox News had chosen its description of him.
