White House aide Michael Dubke says his last day is TBD

Press secretary Sean Spicer was asked about the story at the start of the White House press briefing and said detailed questions about the reports - which cited anonymous sources - assume the allegations are true.

Dubke wrote in a statement that it had been an honor to serve Trump and "my distinct pleasure to work side by side, day by day with the staff of the communications and press departments".

Dubke had been in the process of divesting from Crossroads and Black Rock Group, two communications firms at which he worked before joining the administration, and was nearing the point when he would have had to complete the divestiture, a friend said.

Spicer used the first eleven minutes of the daily White House briefing to tout Mr. Trump's overseas trip, labeling it "extraordinarily successful".

After the address, Trump visited a section of the cemetery for USA service members killed in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. The White House said Trump visited the gravesite of Robert Kelly, who was laid to rest in Section 60 .

White House communications director Mike Dubke has resigned, according to media reports.

In a notoriously leak-prone White House, Dubke told POLITICO he was surprised that the news of his planned departure took 12 days to leak out.

During the first few weeks of the presidency, Spicer held the dual roles of press secretary and communications director, but it became too much for him. Mr Dubke, who didn't work on the Trump campaign, joined after campaign spokesman Jason Miller declined to take the communications director position.

"It would be another trainwreck", an anonymous White House official "bluntly" told the Beast.

"When, not if, he does something insane, there'll at least be a degree of separation", one official noted. His appointment came with some criticism, as CNN reported at the time that some inside the White House said they would have preferred a veteran from the campaign.
