Somerset County Library System to begin Summer Reading Challenge June 19

The Princeton Public Library announces its plans for the 2017 summer reading program, "Reading by Design".

Registration begins on June 5 and continues through June 17.at all county libraries.

Once again, participants will be able to use "Beanstack", the BCLS online tracking system, to log their reading progress, explore books lists, and access activity guides customized for each age group and created to encourage learning, curiosity and fun.

"Our summer reading program is created to help forestall the "summer slide" in reading that some students experience during the school break", she said in a statement.

"It's also really important to us that the kids have the summer to choose any book that they want, not what is assigned, and they can read whatever is interesting to them, so that it fosters the love of reading and they can understand that reading is for pleasure as well as school assignments", Lopiccolo said.

SCLSNJ's Summer Reading Challenge for 0-18 year olds will track the number of days read between June 19 and August 19.
