SpaceX taking recycling all way to orbit for NASA

The used Dragon was scheduled to launch toward the International Space Station today (June 1) at 5:55 p.m. EDT (2155 GMT) atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.

Liftoff is targeted for 5:55PM EST (10:55PM BST) followed by the post-launch news conference at 7:30PM EST. However, inclement weather prompted a 48-hour scrub.

"The first orbital-class spacecraft to be reused, however, was a NASA Gemini capsule that was launched on two suborbital flights (the second flight in 1966 was a test for the U.S. Air Force's planned Manned Orbiting Laboratory program)".

If the launch is successful, the Dragon will dock with the space station on Sunday.

It's not clear how much SpaceX had to spend to refurbish the Dragon. The lightning strike occurred about 25 minutes before today's slated launch time, which was an instantaneous window (meaning it could not be pushed back today).
