Squad video of Castile shooting expected to be made public

Colin Kaepernick wasn't happy after a jury issued a verdict of not guilty for police officer Jeronimo Janez on Friday.

Investigators say they're preparing to release all evidence in the shooting of Philando Castile Tuesday, including dashcam video of the shooting that was recorded from the squad vehicle. The charges included second-degree manslaughter and two counts of "intentional discharge of a firearm that endangers safety".

Testifying that Mr. Castile disregarded his order to not pull the gun out, Officer Yanez fired seven shots into the vehicle, five of which hit Castile.

Unlike Reynolds' video, the squad-car video shows the situation's quick escalation and the shooting itself. After he was shot, Castile's girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds - who was with him in the auto along with her daughter - started live streaming on Facebook. It does not show what happened inside the vehicle or what Yanez saw. Yanez says he told Castile not to reach for the gun and that Castile's "grip [was] a lot wider than a wallet". He was stopped for a broken taillight and told Yanez he was licensed to carry a gun and had one in the vehicle.

"The system continues to fail black people, and it will continue to fail you all", Valerie Castile said, her anger building.

Before Castile finishes that sentence, Yanez has his hand on his own gun and is pulling it out of the holster. There is shouting, and Yanez screams "Don't pull it out!" before he fires seven shots into the vehicle. Reynolds' then-4-year-old daughter starts to get out of the auto and is grabbed by an officer.

Officers direct Reynolds out of the auto. "In the meantime, Officer Yanez will not return to active duty". Yanez is then off-camera, but can be heard talking through his body microphone. "Are you kidding me right now?"

At the third meeting, held Monday at the Wellstone Center in St. Paul, Diamond Reynolds spoke publicly for the first time since the verdict. Eighteen people were arrested.
