General Manager David Griffin of the Cleveland Cavaliers speaks to the guests at the 2017 NBA Finals Cares Legacy Project as part of the 2017 NBA Finals on June 8, 2017 at Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland at East Tech High School in Cleveland, Ohio.

Cleveland could have a busy summer as it looks to revamp its roster after losing to the Warriors in five games in this year's Finals.

"It makes no sense why he shouldn't get an extension", James said. But, that's natural with Gilbert, who almost cost the team a LeBron reunion after burning almost every bridge with him after he left for Miami.

Griffin, of course, was relieved of his duties with the Cavaliers before he could pull the trigger on any of these deals.

When James returned to Cleveland in 2014, it was Griffin who assembled the pieces around him, culminating in the most successful three-year stretch in franchise history and its first championship in 2016.
