A fast-moving brush fire erupted near Castaic Lake in northwest Los Angeles County Saturday afternoon, and the Los Angeles County Fire Department and Angeles National Forest teams now have the fire 10% contained.

According to the DOF, the call of the wild fire named for a nearby road to where it was burning was reported around 7:30 p.m. The fire started at around 175 acres, prompting an evacuation, and has grown to 1000 acres. No homes are threatened.

Around 2:49 p.m., the blaze moved from Los Angeles County Fire territory into the Angeles National Forest. Crews were expected to spend the day mopping up hot spots and building containment lines to keep the fire from spreading further, the agency said.

Almost 400 firefighters from the U.S. Forest Service and the Los Angeles County Fire Department were working to douse the flames, which broke out for unknown reasons about 2 p.m. Saturday near the Golden State (5) Freeway and Ridge Route Road.

It's an increase of $2 million from the $73 million cap last season, as players elected to use their escalator clause to raise it. Keep in mind that just because a player has been left unprotected doesn't mean he's necessarily going to be snapped up by Vegas.

By mid-Sunday morning, firefighters were working to tackle the east side of the fire as winds remained calm at four to eight miles per hour.

"It's a largely recreational area", Licon said.

The exponential fire growth that occurred on Saturday was partly due to the tall grass that thrived in the recent rains.
