CeX Data Breach Affects 2 Million Gamers, Techies

Posted August 31, 2017

United Kingdom shop CEX recently suffered an online security breach that may affect up to two million of its customers. I think so. Personal information like that which has been exposed by this security breach could be exploited by criminals.

The data that was compromised was online-only.

Founded in London back in 1992, CeX now has stores across the UK, US, India, Spain, Ireland, Portugal, Netherlands, Mexico, Poland, Australia and Canarias. The company said it stopped collecting this information in 2009, so even if the encryption is broken, the damage should be minimal.

Summarising the sort of data accessed, CeX said: "The data includes some personal information, such as first name, surname, addresses, email address and phone number if this was supplied".

Texans and Cowboys Cancel Final Preseason Game
Watt said he's been moved by watching everyone that has helped out in the crisis so far and is looking forward to pitching in. The team has been practicing at the Cowboys' facility in Frisco, Texas, this week.

The bad news was announced in the form of an email sent to registered users of CeX's webuy.com website.

To be fair, it seems some of CeX's customers don't seem that bothered about the breach.

'We take the protection of customer data extremely seriously and have always had a robust security programme in place which we continually reviewed and updated to meet the latest online threats, ' the firm said.

The company said they were working with the police following the breach and had employed a cyber-security specialist to review its systems to prevent any more hacks. CEX is recommending customers change their password on the site as soon as possible, along with changing passwords to any other accounts that share the same email and password combination. "We ceased storing customer card details in 2009".

Amid floods, Astros to return home Saturday to face Mets
Houston's Minute Maid Park was in " good condition ", but obviously not ready for a baseball game, according to Business Insider . That would mean playing this upcoming one in Arlington and then switching the series scheduled for late September.

If you've ever sold games or used phones via second-hand electronics dealer CeX's website, you should probably change your passwords right now.

'Together we have implemented additional advanced measures of security to prevent this from happening again'.

"With GDPR looming, it is essential that companies take a hard look at the data it stores and processes and for what purposes".
