From The Woodlands in the Houston area, Lewis has pledged to give her tournament earnings - first place is worth $195,000 USA - to the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

Brooke Henderson popped to the top of the leaderboard Friday afternoon at the Cambia Portland Classic in OR, as she aims for her third straight LPGA championship in this tournament. KPMG, one of her sponsors, announced it was going to match Lewis' winnings in the relief effort. However, while she finished her round with 11 successive pars to card a 69 and finish on 20 under for the tournament, Chun made her sweat for the victory.

It's one of many great stories from athletes, particularly golfers in Texas' hour of need.

Chun cut the lead to two with birdies at the par-5 10th and 12th. She hit it to the back of the green and couldn't get the ball to stop.

Sharapova sent tumbling out of US Open by clinical Sevastova
She lost to her younger sister Serena Williams at the Australian Open and to Garbine Muguruza at Wimbledon. She ran into Anastasija Sevastova , the 16th seed, and lost a tough-fought three-setter, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.

Lewis stated at the start of the week that she would donate her entire prize money from the tournament to the relief fund for victims of the devastating floods in Houston, where her husband Gerrod Chadwell is women's golf coach at the University of Houston.

"I'm excited to get the monkey off my back and just to know I can do it", Lewis said.

Lewis had not won in 82 starts since the 2014 Walmart NW Arkansas Championship and endured several near-misses over the last three seasons with no fewer than 12 runner-up finishes, including a second place in Portland last season. Lewis closed out with a two-putt par at the last.

Perhaps the biggest hole of the day for Lewis came at the hard 17th when she hit her approach over the green and saved par after chipping 7 feet past the hole. "I know Stacy have a little hard time before, so I want to give her a big congratulations".

A subsequent letter written by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein was used instead as the basis to terminate Comey. That element "is the hardest to prove, because it depends on showing an improper motive", the experts said.

Jutanugarn said she has "pretty good" momentum heading into the next stretch of tournaments on the LPGA Tour schedule, which includes the final major of the year.

She had a couple bogeys but that didn't stop her from finishing at 10-under alongside Stacy Lewis.

After playing with hometown hero Brooke Henderson a week ago on her turf at the CP Women's Open, Brittany Altomare notched her best LPGA Tour result ever, after a 3-under-par 69 Sunday in Portland moved her into a tie for third.
