India's First Bullet Train Project All Set To Be Launched In Ahmedabad

PM Shinzo is all set to arrive in Ahemdabad today at 3:30 at Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed him at the airport.

Japanese PM Abe was accorded a ceremonial reception on his arrival at the Ahmedabad Airport, on Wednesday. In the evening both the prime ministers will pay a visit to iconic Sidi Saiyyed Mosque present at the eastern part of the city.

Abe begins his two-day visit on Wednesday during which he and Modi will hold the 12th India-Japan annual Summit in Gujarat capital Gandhinagar. Modi and Abe will also break ground for a second Japanese industrial park at Sanand besides the one at Mandal (near Suzuki Motor Gujarat's plant).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe will lay the foundation stone for the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project, India's first high-speed train, on Thursday.

The Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train will set the pace of running trains at speeds of over 250 km per hour, covering the 508-km distance in just two hours and seven minutes as against the existing travel time of 7-8 hours.

It is expected to run on an average speed of 250 km per hour, with a top speed of around 320 km per hour - more than double the maximum speed of the fastest train in India.

The visiting dignitaries and Modi paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at the ashram where the Father of the Nation lived for about 12 years. Interestingly Sarabhai also informed that Abe and his wife had left a note saying "love" and "thank you" before signing off with their names in the visitor's book at the Ashram.

By that point, the original 90-day travel ban will have lapsed and the 120-day refugee ban will have just a few weeks to run. As a matter of law, the Supreme Court can't rule on a case that no longer presents an ongoing issue.

Abe's visit comes amid rising tensions in the Far East where North Korea recently launched a ballistic missile that flew over Japan.

According to clerics at the mosque, PM Modi explained the history and importance of the mosque to Mr Abe. They also made a decision to build upon their cooperation in the smart city project of India.

U.S. President Donald Trump plans to visit Japan in early November, his first trip here since he assumed the presidency in January, Japanese government sources said.

Later, Mr Modi hosted Mr Abe at a dinner where a Gujarati vegetarian platter was served.
