"This historic double allocation is a "win-win-win" situation for the city of Paris, the city of Los Angeles and the IOC". "Today, LA 2028 is taking the final step in our bid, and preparing to begin our 11-year journey as an Olympic host city". Paris will host on the 100th anniversary of its previous Games.
Bach said the unanimous International Olympic Committee decision would secure the future of the Games and ensure successful Olympics.
Both Paris's bid co-chair Tony Estanguet and LA bid chairman Casey Wasserman are to stay on and lead the host cities' preparations, mayors Anne Hidalgo and Garcetti confirmed in a news conference after the announcement. They'll be the first Summer Olympic host in North America since Atlanta in 1996.
Paris's bid, in general, was focused only on 2024 and not interested in hosting four years later.

This ends a string of unsuccessful bids by Paris after they tried to land the 1992, 2008 and 2012 Olympics. After the IOC's 2024 Evaluation Commission visited L.A. and Paris in May 2017, it issued a report praising both cities and describing L.A.'s bid as "forward-looking, innovative and vibrant".
The race began early in 2015 with a different USA candidate but the abysmal public support for Boston forced that city to part ways with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) who turned to Los Angeles instead just days before the application deadline.
In September of that year, Los Angeles stepped back in as the USOC's pick to replace Boston.

"We believe that these extra four years will give us time to make our games better", Evans said.
He said he can't wait for his city to welcome the global event back.
