Minnesota targeted by Russia-backed groups before 2016 election

The Indiana Secretary of State's Office says Indiana was not one of 21 states targeted by Russian hacking attempts during the 2016 election.

He says the hackers were unable to find any vulnerability in the state system and "weren't able to get any kind of intrusion into anything".

Secretary of State Kim Wyman said in a statement that the Department of Homeland security informed her office Friday of the attempted breach, which state officials had already been aware of.

The state's system blocked the IP addresses completing the scans.

Wisconsin Elections Commission administrator Michael Haas said the attempted hack had no effect on Wisconsin's systems or the outcome of the election.

Other states targeted include Alabama, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Virginia and Washington. And he says the Department of Homeland Security confirmed there was no breach or compromise of Wisconsin's data.

Trump won the election and has called the Russian Federation story a hoax.
