A student is dead and a second is in critical condition after a stabbing at a Bronx school, according to WPIX.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Bob Boyce said the suspect and been fighting with the two victims since school started back two weeks ago.

In response to the stabbings, Mayor Bill de Blasio said he would tighten security at the school and implement scanning Thursday.

Anger and emotions spilled out after a 15-year-old was killed in history class Wednesday morning.

He said getting aid where it was needed has been a challenge because of the magnitude of the destruction on the island. Rather, the DHS is presently reviewing a waiver request submitted by eight members of Congress, led by Rep.

The students involved in the stabbing incident went to the Urban Assembly for Wildlife Conservation School.

In the wake of the stabbing, the first slaying inside a city school in almost 25 years, authorities have installed two body scanners and two X-ray machines at the Urban Assembly School for Wildlife Conservation.

In terms of the harassment Cedeno alleged, Boyce said that he told detectives he had been bothered by other students - not McCree and Laboy - at the school but didn't identify them. He has preliminarily been charged with one count of murder, two counts of of attempted murder, one count of manslaughter, one count of attempted manslaughter, two counts of assault, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. The dispute escalated Wednesday, culminating with the attack about 30 minutes into a history class. The 15-year-old died at a hospital; the 16-year-old is in critical but stable condition.

The suspect, armed with a three-inch switchblade, walked out of the the classroom after the stabbing and handed the weapon to a guidance counsellor, Boyce said.

The measure is sponsored by GOP Sens Lindsey Graham of SC and Louisiana's Bill Cassidy . Susan Collins of ME said she opposed the latest version of the bill.

The school does not have metal detectors, officials said, adding that this knife would have been picked up if there were. In 2014, a fight between two 14-year-old boys ended with one stabbed to death outside a Bronx school.

"It's unacceptable to ever lose a child to violence in a school building", said de Blasio, adding that the city will redouble its efforts to increase safety there.

McCree and Laboy were breaking pencils and tossing the broken pieces at Cedeno's head before the accused killer attacked his tormentors, police said. She plans to pull her daughters out of school.

Cedeno's move from the classroom to the courtroom came after authorities installed metal detectors early Thursday at the Urban Assembly School for Wildlife Conservation in East Tremont. "And they're crying, wondering what is going on, and the school didn't even call me".
