Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott to begin six-game suspension, will not play vs

On Thursday, the 2nd Circuit denied Elliott's motion, reinstating the Dallas Cowboys running back's six-game suspension that has been playing out in the legal system throughout the season.

The Cowboys play Sunday at Atlanta.

Elliott will now miss games against the Falcons, Eagles, Chargers, Redskins, Giants, and Raiders.

According to Pro Football Talk, an appellate court will hear his case on an expedited basis, and Elliott will remain suspended until then.

The six-game suspension stems from a domestic violence allegation by Elliott's former girlfriend in July of 2016.

The NFLPA has argued a suspension would irreparably harm Elliott's career. Although both players are formidable backups that have been Pro Bowl-caliber backs for other teams in the past, there's no replacing Elliott who may be the best player in the National Football League at his position. The U.S Second Circuit Court of Appeals granted Elliott a stay that allowed him to suit up for Sunday's win over the Chiefs but three judges made the decision Thursday to block his request for an injunction. It wasn't immediately clear how soon the court would rule on Elliott's claim that he was treated unfairly by the NFL.

Trevor Siemian has struggled mightily in his last few outings, so the Denver Broncos are turning to Brock Osweiler . Osweiler guided the Broncos to a 5-2 mark in 2015 as he filled in for an injured Peyton Manning .

Elliott is second in the NFL with 783 rushing yards and tied for the league lead with seven rushing scores.
