The Onslow County Sheriff's Office posted on social media early Saturday morning that they have arrested 32-year-old Earl Kimrey for the disappearance and possible death of 3-year-old Mariah Woods. He is charged with concealing of death, obstruction of justice, second-degree burglary, felony larceny and possession of stolen property.

The sheriff's office says based on evidence they recovered in the investigation, they believe the little girl is deceased.

"The searches will now shift to a recovery process", deputies said of the more than 700 volunteers that poured into the county along the North Carolina coast about 120 miles (193 kilometers) southeast of Raleigh, searching woods, outbuildings and anyplace else for the girl.

Her mother told investigators she last saw Mariah Sunday, and Kimrey saw her later that night.

She claimed he saw her at 1am and told her to go back to bed.

She was allegedly abducted from a home on the 2400 block of Dawson Cabin Road in Jacksonville, according to an Amber Alert issued Monday, when she was reported missing.

District Attorney Ernie Lee has been consulted on the current charges and additional charges could be pending as the investigation continues. "Just bring her home, please, safe and sound". The warrant also says that Kimrey "secretly disposed of the dead child's body".

"Allow us to review it to determine if it is of investigative value", FBI agent Stanley Meador said.
