The Rolling Stone publisher had perennially blocked the New Jersey band from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but it was announced Wednesday that the "Livin' on a Prayer" rockers will be inducted in April, along with Nina Simone, Dire Straits, the Cars and the Moody Blues. The godmother of rock and roll, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, will also receive the Early Influence Award. In a many ways, the inclusion of Bon Jovi, Dire Straits, The Moody Blues, and The Cars are entirely expected of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in a year that also included eligible artists like Radiohead, Kate Bush, Depeche Mode, Rage Against the Machine, and LL Cool J.
