"LG Set To Reveal 88" 8K OLED TV At CES 2018

LG Display announced, on January 1, the world's first 88-inch organic light emitting diode (OLED) display panel with 8K picture quality four times brighter than ultra-high definition (UHD) display panels now available.

Furthermore, the price of LG 8K OLED TV, though not officially announced, will sure not come cheap. The approval of establishing this plant has also been given by the South Korean government. The company has claimed that its QLED TVs are better than OLED TVs. While the engineers at LG Display are further going to expand the reach of the OLED display in 2018 by introducing first of its kind 8K OLED display at CES 2018.

The television, which measures a huge 88 inches across in its display, packs a total of 7780 x 4320 pixels into all that screen real estate.

As with the TV, there is no information available with the pricing. It boasts the highest resolution with 33 million pixels (7680×4320p) - 16 times more than full HD (1920×1080p) and four times more than Ultra HD aka 4K (3840×2160p).

LG Display has become the largest display maker in the world as it has been providing its display to the likes of Sony, Panasonic, and others. Its closest rival, Samsung, has already moved from OLEDs to QLEDs, short for Quantum LED, for its TVs, leaving LG as the undisputed champ.

Just recently, the company even got an approval from the South Korean trade ministry to set up a new organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panel production facility in China.

All in all, LG's announcement comes at a time when the company is making a bigger push into OLED panels and ramping up its operations.
