President Trump claimed on Monday that he'll meet with Kim Jong-un, " northkorea's leader, in May or early June, putting a timeline for the historical summit in between the president and the Arab Korean strongman. South Korea has recently acted as an intermediary for the two rival administrations, though it has praised recent direct contact as positive. Till three weeks ago, dilemma lingered over the first-ever meeting between Trump and Kim.

The news comes just 24 hours after it was revealed the tyrant committed during a meeting with China to denuclearisation if the US and South Korea showed "goodwill".

In South Korea, meanwhile, there are growing signs that Moon Jae-in's government is about to enter its own summit with Kim Jong-un - the third inter-Korean summit later this month - with a different set of assumptions.

The North Korea-China meeting came ahead of the meeting with South Korea, which will take place in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) that separates North and South Korea.
