Yankees: Baseball's most storied rivalry is officially back

A new generation of New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox players etched a new mark in the bitter rivalry Wednesday night as a hit by pitch sparked a rambunctious brawl at Fenway Park.

Kelly was retaliating for Austin's apparently late slide into second base earlier in the game that ticked off Red Sox shortstop Brock Holt, the New York Post reported.

Gary Sanchez hit two home runs in a game that twice saw the benches empty and a fight that resulted in four ejections. Cooler heads prevailed and the game continued.

Holt said something to Austin as he got up and began to go back to the dugout. "I had no thought that they were going to throw at me".

As Russia warns against U.S. strike, Trump tweets missiles are coming
Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Russian Federation and Syria to " get ready " for a missile attack on the Assad regime. The president made the statement in a tweet Thursday morning.

"My slide into second base was a clean slide and I play the game hard", Holt said.

Later, the Red Sox appeared to take retribution when Joe Kelly hit Austin with a 98-mph fastball.

"You know that's coming", Red Sox catcher Christian Vazquez told Ian Browne of MLB.com.

Boone backed Austin's decision to charge Kelly.

California to send 400 Guard troops to Mexico border
Trump has said he wants up to 4,000 troops to be sent to the border to combat illegal immigration and drug trafficking. Brown's announcement comes amid growing tensions between California and the Trump administration.

The Austin-Kelly fight follows some of the more infamous brawls in the storied rivalry from Alex Rodriguez and Jason Varitek to Don Zimmer and Pedro Martinez to Lou Pinella and Carlton Fisk. Yankees hitting coach Marcus Thames shoved Austin across the infield toward the Yankees' dugout.

The Yankees and Sox erupted into a benches-clearing brawl in the top of the seventh inning after Boston reliever Joe Kelly drilled New York's DH Tyler Austin in the back with a 97 miles per hour fastball. Austin did seem to land a blow in the ensuing scrum on Boston third-base coach Carlos Febles. They'll try to touch Porcello up with a vaunted lineup that put up 10 runs against Red Sox pitching amid the chaos of Wednesday's game, as they strive to find their rhythm and put together a string of wins.

"I was ready to defend myself", Kelly said after the game.

No punches (or even shoves) were thrown, but everyone on both teams got some exercise on a cold night.
