Basketball: Knicks fire coach Jeff Hornacek

Posted April 15, 2018

After two dismal seasons, the New York Knicks have fired coach Jeff Hornacek, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed to USA TODAY Sports.

Knicks president Steve Mills and GM Scott Perry informed Jeff Hornacek of his firing early Thursday morning as the team was returning to NY from a 108-95 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"Knicks dismissed coach Jeff Hornacek, league sources tell ESPN". Because of this, I believe that the best course of action for the team would be hiring Jackson.

John McCain, R-Ariz., chairman of the Senate Armed Service Committee, said Trump's "premature" declaration emboldened Assad. Several other members of Congress echoed Pelosi's statement calling out Trump for not going to Congress to seek approval.

He'd be a good low-risk, high-reward gamble for the Knicks as they sort themselves out in the next couple of seasons.

Counting his time as the Phoenix Suns' head coach from 2013-14 to the middle of the 2015-16 season, Hornacek has a career 161-216 record. Including interim coaches, the team is now looking for its sixth head coach since 2012.

"Jim [Dolan] has given us the room to be patient, which again is not something that's been common in this organization", Mills said, referring to the Knicks' owner. Jackson, who was the president, has since departed for his Montana home, Anthony was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder and now Hornacek is leaving too, after the Knicks announced early on Thursday morning (April 12) that they had fired him. From Wright's perspective, it would be unquestionably lucrative to jump to the Knicks (with his stock never higher than it is today) and, if things went well, he could own the city of NY. I love what we're doing. "But I have to give this up in order to do that, and I don't see that happening".

He played 37 minutes against the Grizzlies to clinch his 10 rebound per game average to go with his 25.4 points and 10.3 assists. The Bucks entered their regular-season finale having won seven of 10 games and occupying sixth place in the East.

The Knicks finished this season in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, with 29 wins and 53 defeats.

"One thing he's going to bring to a team is his work ethic". From 1994-2001, he was the head coach at Hofstra. Would I like to coach in the NBA? Yes.

For now, though, all we can do is look at the information in front of us, albeit with a cautious eye.

California to send 400 Guard troops to Mexico border
Trump has said he wants up to 4,000 troops to be sent to the border to combat illegal immigration and drug trafficking. Brown's announcement comes amid growing tensions between California and the Trump administration.

Imagine Jay Wright giving up what he's built at Villanova, and what could lie ahead in the next ten years, for a failed three-year stint with the Knicks where everyone said it was a bad idea from the start. "In a few years, this team is going to be really risky". Now it's time for Perry and Mills to show they know how to take advantage. (The new coach must also beware the Knicks have spent that space on Joakim Noah and Tim Hardaway recent years.) Whoever Mills and Perry hire will go a long way in determining whether the Knicks stay a laughingstock or emerge from this rebuild with some hope.
