Ben Schwartz to voice Sonic the Hedgehog in live-action movie

Sonic the Hedgehog was a giant hit after debuting on the SEGA Genesis in 1991. And now he's getting his own movie, and the actor who will voice the speedy, blue hero has been revealed.

Just mere hours after confirming that Ben Schwartz would be voicing the title character, two more cast members have been confirmed for Paramount's live-action/CG Sonic the Hedgehog film - and they're sure to be recognizable faces to anyone who's seen films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A little known fact about Schwartz is that he was also credited under "Vocal Consultants" in Star Wars: The Force Awakens' BB-8.

Russian helicopter crash kills 18 in Siberia

While Ben Schwartz will be lending his voice to a character that will be created entirely in post-production, Jim Carrey will be doing live-action work for his villainous role in the movie.

The actor confirmed that he would play longtime Sonic nemesis Doctor Robotnik, and that he was involved in a live-action capacity, according to a recent report.

It's unclear at the moment if Shiggy himself will make a cameo in the video or not, but we'll know in a matter of hours if so. Shiggy then pops up again, playing a studio assistant doing his best to get Drake to the set.

Schwartz will later be seen this summer in the comedy thriller Blue Iguana. We're noticing a lot of blue with this one.

Previously announced cast members include WestWorld and Hop's James Marsden along with Tika Sumpter who has featured in the likes of Gossip Girl and Law & Order. Fowler also co-directed the 2005 Oscar-nominated animated short "Gopher Broke".
