Cowboys Earl Thomas Trade: Deal 'Isn't Dead' With Seahawks

Posted September 06, 2018

Seahawks safety Earl Thomas plans to report to Seattle's facility Wednesday after holding out during the offseason, seeking a trade or new contract.

As the standoff in Seattle continues, Earl Thomas is not expected to play week one.

The Seahawks reportedly called the Cowboys on draft night, asking for the 50th pick alone in exchange for Thomas, a six-time Pro Bowler.

Philadelphia Eagles officially name Nick Foles Week 1 starting quarterback
And until he is cleared, until he is deemed 100 percent ready to play competitive, tackle football, Wentz will not play. While the Eagles might not have Carson Wentz to start the season, they do have reigning Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles.

While playing at UCF, Griffin helped the Knights to an undefeated season in his final year while earning SI All-Bowl Team honors for his performance in the Peach Bowl vs. The Cowboys' current starting safeties are Xavier Woods and Jeff Heath, so Thomas would clearly be a major upgrade for that secondary.

Hold out free safety Earl Thomas will report to Seahawks' practice today, he indicated on an Instagram post Wednesday morning that followed a report from ESPN's Josina Anderson that he would show up.

With Thomas now reporting to camp, a potential trade could be dormant.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport said during a TV broadcast Tuesday night that Dallas offered Seattle a third-round pick, but that the Seahawks wanted "a second-rounder and change". That likelihood, apparently, is enough to keep the Cowboys brass from ponying up whatever pot-sweeteners Seattle now wants.

"With that being said, the disrespect has been well noted and will not be forgotten", Thomas wrote after indicating he wouldn't let his teammates down this weekend.

That core had an incredible run in Seattle of pure dominance defensively, and the Broncos were unable to beat Seattle not only in Super Bowl XLVIII but in a regular season matchup the following year.
