Russian Federation to supply Syria with missile system

Russia announced Monday it will supply Syria's government with sophisticated S-300 air defence systems after last week's downing of a Russian plane by Syria forces responding to an Israeli air strike, a friendly fire incident that stoked regional tensions.

Shoigu said Russian Federation will also jam military aircraft communications in the airspace next to Syria over the Mediterranean Sea, while upgrading Syria's air-defense command systems. Putin says "a chain of tragic circumstances" is to be blamed for a Russian military aircraft shot down by a Syrian missile.

"In regions near Syria over the Mediterranean Sea, there will be radio-electronic suppression of satellite navigation, on-board radar systems and communication systems of military aviation attacking objects on Syrian territory", he said.

In fact, the Israeli jets were in Latakia, in Syria's west and used the Russian Il-20 as a shield to bypass Syrian government forces' radar systems, the spokesman said. "We're confident that these measures will cool "hot heads" and prevent thoughtless moves that threaten our servicemen", he said.

Also Monday Putin told Assad of Moscow's plan to deliver the new S-300 air defense system, in the first conversation between the two leaders since the downing of the plane. Israel said Syria was responsible.

Mayfield hadn't practiced with the No. 1 starters this week, and he came into the game with his team down by two touchdowns. The Cleveland Browns won their home game against the New York Jets 21-17, their first victory since December 24, 2016.

The Kremlin on Monday said the downing of a Russian plane in Syria last week following Israeli strikes will harm relations between the two countries and accused Israeli pilots of acting deliberately.

An official report from Moscow has laid the blame squarely at Israel's feet, however, raising the prospect that Russian Federation will close Syrian airspace to Israeli aircraft.

"We believe that the blame for the Russian Il-20 aircraft tragedy lies entirely with the Israeli Air Force", said Russian defence ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov in a press conference in which he revealed the details of the incident.

"President Putin. informed President Assad that Russian Federation will develop the Syrian air defence systems", the Syrian presidency said in a statement.

Russian Federation is providing Syria an air missile system, which is drawing strong objections from Israel.

Kavanaugh accuser demands Federal Bureau of Investigation probe before testifying
Kavanaugh, who has denied the assault allegation, met with officials at the White House on Tuesday for a second straight day. The Judiciary Committee's role is not to determine guilt or innocence but advise the Senate on whether to confirm Kavanaugh.

"According to information of our military experts, the reason [behind the downing] was premeditated actions by Israeli pilots which certainly can not but harm our relations", Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as telling journalists. The supply of S-300s to Syria will "calm down some hotheads" whose actions "pose a threat to our troops", he said.

A spokesperson for the Israeli army on Monday declined to comment on Moscow's S-300 delivery.

A photo taken on July 23, 2006 shows an Russian Il-20M plane landing at an unknown location.

Because of this, Moscow claims that the Russian airforce could not keep its plane safe.

He also complained that Israel, over the years, has waited until the last minute to notify Russia of its operations, putting Russian aircraft at risk.
