OnePlus 6T 'officially' revealed in these two colours ahead of launch

There will probably be a lot to like about the OnePlus 6T, but in an interview, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has revealed a number of things that potential buyers probably won't be happy about. We also know why it'll be more expensive than its predecessor. $550 is the rumored price or $21 more than the OnePlus 6. He talked a bit about price too, specifically as it relates to that new in-display fingerprint reader that carries a "definite cost", meaning you should all prepare for a higher price than the OnePlus 6. As you can see in the images, the fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone has been now moved under the screen, making it feature an in-display fingerprint sensor.

"After you experience the Screen Unlock you'll fall in love with it", Lau said, adding that you "realize that it's the experience that you wanted". Customers are accustomed to OnePlus' fast charge technology, Dash Charging, and in order to deliver a similar experience wirelessly, the 6T would have had to be thicker.

He didn't say exactly what it would cost but noted that the in-screen scanner was the main culprit for the rise, saying: "Screen Unlock technology is something very new and there's a definite cost required for that new technology". Lau said that they are "working hard" on wireless charging, but that they aren't ready to include it until it "can get up to speed without the implication of heat".

As for an IP rating, well, the OnePlus 6T will be more water resistant than any previous OnePlus phone, it just won't have a rating. A new leak has now revealed that the upcoming Android flagship will come with seven various different accessories, including two that confirm the smartphone will ship without a headphone jack.

Lau still argued that prices don't dictate the end product, but it's pretty clear that's not entirely so - at least not for a company that's still pricing its flagships at just over half of what the latest iPhone or Galaxy Note phones cost.

OnePlus has also confirmed that the OnePlus 6T will not come with the 3.5mm headphone jack. That's because the parts that OnePlus won't change concern the hardware.
