Girl Scouts CEO says hearts 'broken' over crash

The killed girls were students at the Halmstad and Southview elementary schools in Chippewa County, where grief counselors were on hand as classes resumed Monday.

'Our hearts are broken for the girls and families of the Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes, ' CEO Sylvia Acevedo of Girl Scouts of the U.S. said in a statement Sunday.

He was also found with methamphetamines, cannabis and other controlled substances when he was arrested, police say.

The driver sped off, leaving two girls and one woman dead.
