Gunman in Walmart Shooting Not Expected to Survive

Police say a man suspected of fatally shooting a woman in a north Florida Walmart store has been hospitalized with a self-inflicted gunshot wound that is considered life-threatening.

Police said David Johnson, 54, shot Carli Cronin, 30, around 2.30 pm at the Walmart at 4980 East Silver Springs Boulevard.

The "domestic argument" started in the garden center and then the woman went in the store and screamed for help, police said on social media.

They found him about two hours later at a home down the road with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head - he is not expected to survive.

The suspect, who is 55, fled on a bicycle and was caught.

They did, however, describe her as a 30-year-old. He said the victim and the suspect dated for about nine months but were now apart and had been arguing all day.

Ballard told the newspaper that the pair had been arguing all day Saturday because he wanted to get back together and she did not.

The victim was pronounced dead, but her name has not been released.

According to Ocala police, the gunman and victim knew each other.

The man then shot the woman before getting away.

Personnel at the store called the police and tried to intervene, but the woman died.

The unidentified woman was taken by ambulance just before 3 a local hospital but died shortly later.
