'Stranger Things 3' Start Date Confirmed In Eerie New Year's Day Message

The clip features vintage footage of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve show from 1985 interspersed with some creepy cutaways to a computer screen with command logs from Lynx Corp.

In the final seconds of 2018, just as the calendar was flipping over to the new year, Netflix revealed the release date for Stranger Things season 3. We're not done fighting the monsters from the Upside Down, and the new teaser trailer makes that very clear.

The third season of Stranger Things will premiere on Netflix on July 4, because what better way is there to celebrate America's independence than with Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) using her mental powers to throw cars around and fight demodogs?

After two years of occupying the Halloween scene, it looks like Stranger Things is ready to lay claim to another holiday season entirely.

Netflix followed up by tweeting a poster for Stranger Things 3 right after it debuted the release date trailer. The date was confirmed January 1 with an Independence Day-themed poster showing Eleven (played by Millie Bobby Brown) holding hands with Mike (Finn Wolfhard) as other characters admire fireworks bursting in the distance.

Meanwhile, Mike (Finn Wolfhard) is looking over at Eleven, the girl he finally smooched at the prom at the end of Season 2.
