Sen. Cory Booker launches 2020 bid

Sterzenbach recalled Booker's appearance in Iowa previous year, when the senator attended the state party's fall gala on the same day Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed to the Supreme Court over vehement Democratic opposition.

Amid speculation of Booker's presidential aspirations, the New Jersey senator revealed in December 2018 he would make a decision on whether or not to launch a 2020 presidential run over the holiday season.

Booker joins a growing field of candidates including Sen. "One is, What's wrong with the candidates that are already in there?"

But he has also emerged as a passionate interrogator of President Donald Trump's nominees - including Justice Brett Kavanaugh, at whose confirmation hearing Booker memorably unloaded in a heated "Spartacus moment".

Meanwhile, Senator Elizabeth Warren is expected to formally announce her presidential bid on February 9th. In 2002, when he made his first, unsuccessful bid for mayor of Newark, he was followed by reporters and documentary crews; a chronicle of the campaign, "Street Fight", was nominated for an Academy Award.

West Ham make late move for Chelsea striker Batshuayi
The striker, who had endured a hard first half of the campaign on loan at Valencia , has cost a loan fee of around £1m. The report claims that Batshuayi is seen as a decent addition to the Toffees but they can not sign him on loan.

Despite that, Booker has been viewed skeptically by his party's left, and been ridiculed by conservatives who say his image has been carefully manufactured.

In the Senate, Booker has at times favored a pragmatic approach, teaming up with like-minded Republicans on issues like criminal justice.

A former mayor of Newark, New Jersey, Mr Booker has styled himself as a progressive who favours a Medicare-for-all healthcare plan and has a liberal voting record in the Senate. Cory Booker to the mix now.

Booker is one of several senators running for president or seriously considering it.

In some ways, Booker is a political heir to former President Jimmy Carter, who in the aftermath of the Nixon administration pledged a government "as good and honest and decent and compassionate and filled with love as are the American people".

Maduro rejects call for elections amid mounting pressure
Trump last week announced that the US would recognize Guaido as the legitimate president of the country. Mr Maduro is still clinging to power and continues to have the support of the military at this stage.

"Together, America", he added, "we will rise".

David Axelrod, former adviser to Barack Obama, called him "brilliant" but said Mr Booker has a tendency to "perform" which can make him seem less authentic. "But I think the reward is higher, because that means more if you can inspire, versus anger", Sterzenbach said.

At times, Mr Booker has caught Mr Trump's attention.

Hillary Clinton's battle with Bernie Sanders in the 2016 Democratic primary - and her eventual loss to Trump in the election - triggered an ongoing debate within the party about the best path forward, pitting moderates against progressives and younger politicians against the old guard.

"I dream of these people every night!" "Remember he was pretending he was breaking with protocol in this Senate, that he was going to release confidential emails, and I believe it was Senator [John] Cornyn of Texas, reminded him that those had already been released".
