INTIMIDATED: Pelosi Won't Say Ilhan Omar's Comments Are Intentionally Anti-Semitic

Posted March 07, 2019

Democratic leaders are delaying a House vote on a resolution to condemn anti-Semitism as the party inserts additional language that'll denounce other forms of bigotry.

Islamic supremacist and anti-Semitic activist Linda Sarsour, a leader of the Women's March, took to social media this week bashing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as a "white feminist upholding the patriarchy". "Anti-Semitism has fueled atrocities throughout history and it's inconceivable they will not act to condemn it!"

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., will not be stripped from her seat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee over statements the freshman congresswoman made about Israel that prompted allegations of anti-Semitism by lawmakers on both sides of the aisles and pushes by Republicans for her removal. Democrats chose to add a provision also condemning anti-Muslim behavior, but it's not clear whether the measure will receive a floor vote. But, she added, "for us to go out just because a member said something and put a resolution - I just don't see the value in that".

They even mentioned that they let another customer go ahead of them in line to buy a Mega Millions ticket before them. The South Carolina lottery said Monday that the victor had claimed October's jackpot but elected to remain anonymous.

The resolution was meant to rebuke Omar's comments, though she isn't named in the original draft. "As a member of Congress I should not get important information from cable news". This week, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., accused Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, of anti-Semitism for a tweet referring to Tom Steyer, a Democratic donor of Jewish descent as "Tom $teyer", and Richmond and several other members mentioned Trump.

"There are ongoing discussions with all the stakeholders in the House Democratic Caucus as to the appropriate way to proceed", said Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of NY, the chairman of the caucus.

"What I fear is going on in the House now is an effort to target Congresswoman Omar as a way of stifling that debate", he continued.

But Hoyer said King's racist remarks had gone on for "years" before the GOP took any steps to address them. One person in the room quoted the speaker as saying the leaders had tried to increase communication so that members stay united and have "a clearer understanding of what our goal is as a caucus, how we proceed".

Omar and her supporters, which includes Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, among others, contend her comments were in reference to Israeli lobbyists and not the Jewish community. I listened to the speaker, I heard the words that she said to her conference on how tough votes on the floor. Last month, Omar apologized for comments in which she implied that prominent pro-Israel lobby American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) compensated lawmakers for their support of the Jewish state, but insisted on what she called "the problematic role of lobbyists in our politics". They didn't plan to indirectly condemn Omar because of some deep abiding love for Israel-they did it because they know pro-Israel forces have a ton of power, and they had no desire to stand up to that kind of pressure.

The Post reported that at one point during the meeting, Pelosi ally Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D., Ill.) pleaded: "Everyone stop tweeting!"

Omar's allies, including her fellow Muslim representative, Rashida Tlaib of MI, allege Omar is being unjustly targeted because she is a Muslim woman of color. "That would have been fine", Vargas said of Ocasio-Cortez's response on Twitter.
