Antonio Brown blocks Bills trade as Steelers cornered into lowering price

The Bills ran from an Antonio Brown report that surfaced Thursday night from NFL Network saying that Buffalo and Pittsburgh were closing in on a trade for the mercurial receiver.

Brown, on the other hand, claims that the report is not true via a comment on a post from the NFL's Instagram page.

Brown reportedly told the Steelers he would not report to Buffalo, and that was why the trade didn't actually happen. "The #Steelers now must find another suitor", Rapoport wrote on Twitter. Steelers and Bills briefly talked but "this is an old story".

With free agency starting next week, perhaps the drama surrounding Brown will quiet down.

"We inquired about Antonio Brown on Tuesday, and kept talks open with the Steelers", Beane said.

As of last Friday, the three teams that had shown the most interest in the wide receiver were the Oakland Raiders, Washington Redskins and Tennessee Titans. Quarterback Josh Allen had an up-and-down season in 2018 and the future looks bright, but there are still plenty of question marks.

Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Susan Collins (Maine) and Thom Tillis (N.C.) in announcing his intention to vote against the declaration. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell , a Kentucky Republican, said the vote will occur before a recess later this month.

Apart from Brown's potential discontent at being sent to one of the NFL's smaller markets, a possible issue for any team that acquires him is his likely desire for a new contract.

It seemed like Brown was set to go to Buffalo. Brown's $22.165 million cap hit is now the largest for any wide receiver in the NFL.

In 15 games last season, Brown had 1,297 yards receiving on 104 catches with a league-leading 15 touchdowns.
