Barr Plans to Take Weeks, Not Months, to Do Next Mueller Report

Posted March 28, 2019

Almost half of all Americans still believe President Donald Trump worked with Russian Federation to interfere in the 2016 presidential election, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted after Special Counsel Robert Mueller cleared Trump of that allegation.

In a reversal that could threaten health coverage for more than 20 million Americans, lawyers for the Trump Administration have come out in support of a previous ruling by a Texas federal judge that struck down the the entire Affordable Care Act as unconstitutional.

"The Republican Party will soon be known as the party of healthcare", the president said at the US Capitol on Tuesday. He showed an eagerness to move on, Republicans said, specifically to focus anew on repealing President Barack Obama's signature health care law.

"We always felt that the issues that affect average Americans - health care, climate change, jobs - far more important to them, and to us, than what happens in an investigation", Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Tuesday. Just 43% feel Congress ought to end the investigation completely following the release of Barr's summary of Mueller's findings.

Graham later told CNN he had spoken to President Donald Trump about the Mueller report, who said "just release it". At the same, given what I suspect to be the high degree of partisanship within Mueller's team, perhaps we should consider ourselves lucky that Mueller at least exonerated Trump of collusion - the main issue he was tasked with considering and the main issue in the public's mind. The 41 percent who cited it preferred Democratic candidates over Republicans by a jarring margin of 75 to 23 percent. Mueller's investigation also exonerated the president from claims that he had colluded with Russian Federation during the 2016 election.

"I worked with the prosecutor [Goodhand] in this matter", said Gene Rossi, a former assistant US attorney in Virginia.

On Monday, Schiff also singled out the attorney general. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, were all deeply skeptical of a strategy that threatened to negatively affect health care for millions of Americans without a clear plan to fix the damage uprooting the law would cause in practical terms. Axios reported earlier Wednesday that McCarthy told the president that the attempt to get the ACA overturned "made no sense".

This week, however, he again maintained that the GOP had the best answers on health care.

"If all we have is that Mueller concluded that he didn't have sufficient evidence to reach a finding of conspiracy, then that leaves the door wide open, both with respect to seeing and evaluating his evidence and for further investigation whether by Congress or historians", Jerome Segal, a former senior research scholar at the University of Maryland's Center for global and Security Studies and is now the president of the Jewish Peace Lobby, said in a statement emailed to Newsweek.

There is no question the Mueller report will help Trump lock in his base, but they weren't faltering there anyway.

"House Democrats did not win the election on collusion; we didn't win the election on impeachment; we didn't win the election on obstruction of justice", said Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of NY, the Democratic Caucus chairman. They are also demanding Federal Bureau of Investigation records about discussions to remove the president using the 25th Amendment.
