USA police paid for hotel for brothers in Jussie Smollett attack case

Jussie Smollett's attorney Tina Glandian claimed "whiteface" may have been used to disguise the identities of the Osundairo brothers. It later emerged that Smollett had allegedly paid two Nigerian men to stage the incident.

Calling Chicago a "Trump-Free Zone", Emanuel said that the president created the very environment - "toxic" and "hate-filled" - that allowed Smollett to think he could get away with staging a hate crime. However, he's since clarified that he did not believe the actor was "innocent" and said "alternative prosecutions" from prison time happen on the reg in the county.

Emanuel said Smollett had "abused" the city of Chicago, a day after the actor walked out of court saying he had been vindicated in insisting he had not staged a racist assault against him in January. "It is an embarrassment to our Nation!" he said in a post on Twitter. After the weeks-long investigation, Chicago PD claimed Smollett had orchestrated the attack on himself, hiring the Osundairo brothers as the attackers.

In yet another twist to the case, all the charges against him were dropped on 26 March. You know, I think police had minimal investigation in this case, it took me only five minutes to Google.

Thai elections: Results show surprisingly close race with pro-military party ahead
In the end, voter turnout was far lower than expected at just over 65%, which is thought to have hurt the pro-democracy parties. The commission said on Monday it will announce the official results of the final 150 seats in the 500-seat parliament on May 9.

On one side is Rahm Emanuel, the tough-as-nails outgoing Chicago mayor and former chief of staff to Barack Obama.

Sen. Kamala Harris told CNN's Wolf Blitzer, in a chat about the Smollett case, that she was "completely confused" about its outcome.

The FBI is already conducting a probe into a threatening letter Smollett received on the set of "Empire" in Chicago.

On "Outnumbered Overtime" Wednesday, former US attorney Guy Lewis said this is "open warfare" between the Chicago Police Department and the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. It was previously reported that Foxx recused herself from the Smollett case in February, but it appears she did not file the paperwork to do so officially.

Apple did reveal a short video, just over a minute long, that's sort of mega-trailer for Apple's upcoming original content. Apple watchers complained on social media that they could've done with less hype, and more actual clips from the shows.

On Wednesday, a redacted Chicago Police Department report from the Smollett criminal investigation was released under the Freedom of Information Act Request.

Emanuel described it as a "whitewash of justice" that sends a message that people with power and influence are held to a different standard.

All charges against the actor were dismissed on Tuesday in exchange for community service and Smollett forfeiting a $10,000 bond payment to the city of Chicago.

Smollett also said the men doused him with a chemical and put a noose around his neck.

Trump says public should see 'ridiculous' Mueller report
Still, he said the report that Mueller is writing should be released, so they can evaluate the claims for themselves. He also argued that he won the support of "tens of millions of voters" in 2016, while Mueller "never got a vote".

Attorney Patricia Brown Holmes said in a statement: "We are disappointed the local authorities have continued their campaign against Jussie Smollett after the charges against him have been dropped".
