Actress Felicity Huffman departs federal court in Boston on April 3 after facing charges in a nationwide college admissions bribery scandal.

Less than a week later, the Department of Justice announced Huffman was one of the defendants who agreed to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud.

It's speculated that Huffman may face four to 10 months behind bars depending on the terms of her plea agreement.

Sentencing is set for September 13.

Actor Felicity Huffman has pleaded guilty to paying $15,000 to rig her daughter's SAT score in a USA college admissions scheme that involved wealthy parents and athletic coaches at some of the country's top schools.

She also considered going through with the plan for her younger daughter before ultimately deciding not to, authorities say.

Felicity Huffman, 56, entered her plea two months after she was arrested in the investigation named "Operation Varsity Blues" and accused of paying US$15,000 to rig her daughter's SAT score.

"I had no knowledge of Mr. Singer paying Mr. Riddell", she said, "but everything else that Mr. Rosen said I did, I did". A federal judge will have the final say.

Huffman has said she takes full responsibility and will accept the consequences.

Rosen also said Huffman scored "multiple concessions" from the government, including avoiding prosecution for money laundering.

The "Desperate Housewives" star is scheduled to appear Monday in Boston federal court. Judge Talwani confirmed to Huffman after asking repeatedly that she was sure she wanted to plead guilty, that she has lost a number of rights: gun ownership, voting in many states, and holding office. Others involved like actress Lori Loughlin and her husband have entered not guilty pleas. A limited Netflix series featuring Huffman on the Central Park Five case is expected to debut this month.
